The love of a mother exists before language, holding life in place. It moves through bodies, shaping how we survive and how communities endure. Maternal love is structural: it creates the conditions for existence before laws, institutions, or borders. Through care, protection, teaching, emotional connection, and the transmission of memory, maternal labor builds the foundations of society. Though largely invisible and feminized, this work is political and essential. From a decolonial perspective, naming it resists systems that have exploited maternal bodies while denying their value.
