I was able to finish this painting after talking to my father just before he entered the surgery room. I experienced a mix of horror, fear, desperation, and sadness because he was in pain, and I felt helpless… not even able to be with him and my family during that difficult time. After our conversation, I felt a sense of release and began adding black strokes to the painting instinctively, allowing my body to guide me in a healing dance with the charcoal and the colors. This painting saved me that day. The black charcoal takes the shape of Buddha, sitting and smiling, much like my father tried to do before his chest was opened. In the middle, the hug of these emotions is expressed by the female characters of the painting.
