Olympus Mons is about 25 kilometers tall when measured from the surrounding plains near its base, making it the tallest volcano in the solar system. It towers far above Earth’s giants like Mauna Kea, which rises about 10 kilometers from base to summit, and Mount Everest at 8.85 kilometers above sea level.
