This competition to win the module - and the meaning of “sealegs” inspired me to synthesise the sounds of an old wooden ship’s boards creaking, along with an attempt at creating seagull chirps. & using my legs to control parts of the synth patch and composition! (white noise for the waves of course)
- Expression pedal for lengthening the creaking sound, and filtering the sequenced kick, bass & perc.
- Sustain pedal - stops the percussion sequencer.
- Floor Tom - triggers an envelope that scans through a sequencer’s 16 steps & creates a staggered squelchy saw wave sound)
- Kick pedal - plays electronic tom
- Hihat pedal - plays the hats
“Sea legs” refers to the ability to walk steadily on a moving ship, or more broadly, to become accustomed to a new or challenging situation. - The phrase “getting your sea legs” is used to describe someone becoming comfortable in a new situation.
