Just a 30-second glimpse of Violet’s story 🥲 And it led us here! Violet has faced more adversity in her 17 years than most do in a lifetime... And for many years, one of the hardest challenges she faced was being unsupported, misunderstood, and excluded at her school. We watched her confidence fade as she struggled without the right environment. She deserved better. After countless IEP meetings, support from an attorney, and relentless advocating, we finally got her to a school that truly changed her life. But not only was the process exhausting... we almost didn’t find her new school at all! Even after endless research and asking every parent I knew, I didn’t learn about the_helixschool until the day before Violet’s placement decision. One day later, and we might have missed the chance to give her the community, confidence, and joy she has today. It should NOT be that hard to find the resources our kids need.
