You've likely heard of the "services cliff" before... It's the sudden drop in support and resources that many young adults with disabilities face when they turn 18 or age out of the school system (usually at 21 or 22, depending on the state). During childhood, many of our kids receive services through an IEP, Medicaid waivers, therapies, etc... And as their parents, we are often guided by the professionals in these areas to know what they're eligible for and how to access those supports. But once our kids reach adulthood, those supports often disappear or become much harder to coordinate, leaving families scrambling to figure out housing, employment, healthcare, and daily living support.
