Signing IEP paperwork should not give you that same ominous vibe you get at the car dealership like you're signing your life away šŸ™ˆ An IEP is a positive thing, meant to ensure that your child is getting the individualized supports they need at school based on the information the *entire* IEP team brings to the table (that means you too, mom or dad!!) But when you're discussing something as important as your child's education and day-to-day support, it can be overwhelming and emotional. And when emotions are heightened, it is really not the time to be signing a legally binding document like an IEP šŸ˜… Since it is the start of the school year for many, it's a good time to remind ourselves that not only are we allowed to, but we SHOULD take time to process the IEP and ensure everthing is included that was discussed *before* signing the paperwork. For many, this means not signing at the IEP meeting, and that's a-okay. Be sure to save this as a reminder for later & send to another IEP...
