Tropical patterns and motifs have been a hot trend recently. Prints of tropical plants and animals can be found everywhere and present a kind of aspirational image of the perfect relaxing lifestyle. Unfortunately, the reality of life in many tropical locales can be in harsh contrast to the vision these tropical motifs advertise. Climate change enabled weather events, like hurricanes and floods, are far too common. Tropical locations are disproportionately affected by these kinds of disasters and often do not have the resources or infrastructure to bounce back quickly. Poverty, homelessness, illness and even death can occur as a result.
