Opened in 1981 to mark thirteen centuries of the Bulgarian state,this monument was designed by Bulgarian artists and engineers, led by Professor Krum Damianov- built entirely by local specialists, with a vision as bold as the history it celebrates. Eight massive concrete blocks form two open halls,each one telling a chapter of the nation’s story - from the first riders who shaped the land, to the ruler who brought Christianity, to the golden age when Bulgaria touched three seas. Carved figures rise eighteen meters high. Ancient scripts — runes, Glagolitic, Cyrillic- flow across the walls like echoes of time. Some monuments fade into the past.
