“Out of your own” is a touching video animation by Valerio Berruti, with original music composed by Joan as a Police Woman especially for this work. Part of Berruti’s exhibition at Fondazione Ferrero, this piece explores the fragile, suspended world of childhood — that magical time in life when everything is still possible. In this animation, Berruti reflects on the moment we first become aware of our shadow — the unfamiliar, darker side of ourselves — and how, with time, we come to accept and embrace it as part of who we are. Each frame was drawn entirely by hand, with no digital shortcuts. The result is a hypnotic, looping journey — a visual and emotional rhythm that echoes the cyclic nature of both memory and music.
