The government has proposed a new 10-year baseline for many migrants, with timelines now depending on salary, job type, and personal circumstances. Here’s the breakdown: 🔹 High earners (£50,270+) & public sector workers → ILR after 5 years 🔹 Community volunteers → 5–7 years 🔹 Medium-skilled workers → up to 15 years 🔹 Refugees → up to 20 years 🔹 Overstayers/illegal entry who later get status → up to 30 years 🔹 Those who haven’t earned £12,570 for 3 years or have criminal convictions → may not qualify at all Who is NOT affected? EU Settlement Scheme holders, British citizen partners, and Hong Kong BN(O) routes remain at 5 years (with some minimum earnings requirements). Who IS affected?
