I get why people want to apply as soon as they hit the minimum. I was the same way. I went straight into the ICU with one goal in mind: get into CRNA school as fast as possible. Once I hit my one-year mark, I started my application. Looking back, I don’t think another year in the ICU would have held me back at all. It probably would have served me really well. More time would have meant sharper judgment, better pattern recognition, and more confidence rooted in experience instead of urgency. Applying early isn’t wrong. But more ICU experience almost never hurts, and often makes the transition into CRNA school feel steadier when you get there.
