This goes along with the good ‘ole debate about front-loaded vs. integrated programs, which one is harder.
The reality is, they’re BOTH hard. But just for different reasons.
Didactic: Getting back into study mode is challenging It’s a LOT of material at once. The pressure to achieve is real. It’s easy to let scores define you.
Clinical: You’re a novice again You’re dealing with personalities. You’re physically exhausted. New environments are constant added stressors.
You have to find your groove and coping mechanisms for each phase.
For me? I found clinical harder because of the long days, early hours and stressors of personalities. BUT, I also found it more rewarding because I FINALLY was doing the anesthesia that I had trained so hard for during didactic. It was all beginning to click.
NARs/SRNAs - what do you find the most challenging?
