ATTAPADI is a tribal taluk in Kerala. Attappadi located at Mannarkkad in Palakkad district has one of the largest tribal settlements in Kerala. The reserve area is currently inhabited by Irulas, Mudugas and Kurumbar. This hill area is famous for its worship of the mountain peak ‘Malleeswaran’ at the Malleeswaram Temple is an extremely important event in the area. The Bhavani River plays an integral part of this area. The area is among the most picturesque locations in Palakkad district. Attappadi Reserve Forest is a protected areacomprising 249 km2 of land area in the western parts of Attappadi.[4] It is one among the reserved forests and protected forests of India.
