“But I switched to vaping…”
I hear this every week. Patients who quit smoking but continued vaping, thinking they solved the problem before surgery.
They didn’t.
Your blood vessels don’t care about the delivery method. They only respond to nicotine and nicotine constricts them. When we lift facial skin during surgery, that skin needs blood flow to survive. Without it, you risk necrosis, scarring, and compromised results.
Three rules every facelift patient must follow:
1️⃣ Stop ALL nicotine 1 month before surgery cigarettes, vapes, patches, gums. All of them.
2️⃣ HRT + smoking = DVT risk. HRT alone is safe. The combination is not.
3️⃣ Cardiovascular disease + smoking = no surgery abroad. Not even minor procedures.
These aren’t suggestions.
These are safety protocols.
Your timeline doesn’t override your safety.
If you cannot follow these rules, postpone your surgery until you can.
This is how we protect both your health and your result.
