Here’s the process in simple terms:
1️⃣ Rebar skeleton
Steel reinforcing bars (rebar) are arranged in a long cylindrical mold. This steel “cage” gives the pole tensile strength (resistance to pulling and bending forces from wind and cables).
2️⃣ Concrete pour
High-strength concrete is poured around the rebar inside the mold.
3️⃣ High-RPM spin
The entire mold is spun at high speed (centrifugal casting).
The spinning forces the concrete outward, compacting it against the mold walls and naturally forming a hollow core.
Why make it hollow?
• Uses less material (lighter + more efficient)
• Improves strength-to-weight ratio
• Easier transport and installation
• Space for internal cables in some designs
Why are concrete poles useful?
