The quest for a new world-class oil province in Namibia has reached a critical "proof-of-flow" phase. On January 19, 2026, Reconnaissance Energy Africa (ReconAfrica) officially closed a fully underwritten equity offering, raising C$36.8 million (approximately N$500 million) to accelerate its 2026 capital program. This funding milestone, led by Research Capital Corporation, follows the recent drilling success at the Kavango West 1X well, where the company identified 400 meters of gross hydrocarbon-bearing intervals, including 64 meters of net pay.
