Nigeria just cleared a massive milestone for universal internet access. Project BRIDGE has officially secured $126 million in new backing from the EBRD and the European Union, adding to the $500 million already in the bank from the World Bank.
This is the start of a 90,000km fiber-optic revolution. We aren't just talking about better signal in Lagos—this is about bringing high-speed, "AI-ready" broadband to all 774 Local Government Areas in Nigeria. By expanding the national backbone from 35,000km to a staggering 125,000km, Project BRIDGE is set to slash internet costs by over 60% and connect 33 million people who are currently offline.
The funding also powers up the 3MTT program, ensuring that as the cables go into the ground, our youth have the technical skills to lead the digital economy. This is more than just infrastructure; it’s the highway for Nigeria’s future.
