The global hunt for high-end engineering talent has officially shifted its compass toward the African continent. On January 18, 2026, the Israeli software services giant Commit announced the acquisition of Savannah, a bootstrapped African tech talent platform, in an all-cash deal valued in the millions of dollars. Founded in late 2022 by Itai Azogui, Savannah has spent the last three years building a elite network of over 100 senior developers, primarily in Nigeria, Kenya, and Ghana. The acquisition marks Commit’s first formal entry into the African market, moving beyond its traditional offshore hubs in Eastern Europe and India to tap into a fresh, English-speaking workforce that has become increasingly proficient in AI-driven development and core product engineering.
