Uganda has taken a significant leap in healthcare delivery for crisis-affected regions by unveiling Africa's first offline-capable Artificial Intelligence (AI) framework for health supply chain optimization. Developed by the International Foundation for Recovery and Development (IFRAD) in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Kyambogo University, this "offline-first" architecture allows frontline health workers to process data and receive predictive logistics support even in regions with zero internet or electricity. The project, which was validated in late 2025 and is scaling throughout 2026, specifically targets the Karamoja region and high-density refugee-hosting districts where drug stock-outs frequently interrupt life-saving care.
