happy women’s day 🔪 a couple of nights ago, Caitlin Kalinowski, who’s the Head of Robotics at OpenAI, resigned. her reason being a military deal that crossed ethical lines she wasn’t willing to put her name on. sound familiar? it should. Timnit Gebru. Margaret Mitchell. Meredith Whittaker. Helen Toner. The OpenAI safety team. Ryan Beiermeister. Zoë Hitzig. Now Caitlin. And there are many women who are not mentioned here, ofc. that’s 8 SENIOR women who left major AI companies citing ethics and safety concerns and every single one of them ended up being right. meanwhile the men who made those calls are still there. still funded. still on stages talking about saving humanity. the patriarchy doesn’t need to win the argument. it just needs to outlast the women making it. happy women’s day!!!
