Sharing a few
#Pranayama practices that I use when I’m going through a flare-up of my
#UlcerativeColitis symptoms. My breath really helps me soothe not only my physical symptoms, but some of the emotional and mental symptoms I go through when I’m down and out.

👉🏽 i don’t like to do any
#pranayamas that agitate my system and stomach (think
#kapalabhati and
#bhastrika) . That’s why I choose really gentle practices just to give myself a sense of relief from my anxiety and stress related to my disease.
👉🏽 if you can’t fold/roll your tongue, use
#Sheetkari pranayama instead by bringing your top and bottom teeth together and inhaling through the teeth. this is an internally cooling technique and with ulcerative colitis, we tend to build a lot of heat and acid.
👉🏽 for belly breathing, I don’t use
#ujjayi. Just a really slow abdominal breath with an open throat.
👉🏽 if sitting makes you uncomfortable, lay down and try these pranayamas, or put cushions under your bum and behind you...
