What if a GIANT tsunami swept across the planet? 🌊🌍 From orbit it might look like an enormous ring moving across the ocean. But here’s the fascinating part… Tsunamis in deep water are usually surprisingly small. Often less than a metre high. Ships at sea can pass right over them without even noticing. The energy spreads out over vast distances, which means the wave becomes long and low, sometimes hundreds of kilometres between crests. Only when the wave approaches land does the ocean floor rise and slow the water down. That’s when the height grows. So the dramatic “towering wave across the ocean” idea doesn’t really match the physics. From space, the ocean during a tsunami would still look mostly calm — just a massive pulse of moving water.
