Last weekend, we went to Tantallon Castle for a wee day trip with the gang. Such a lovely day and a perfect city escape for a few hours. Tantallon Castle is a ruined mid-14th-century fortress. It differs from most comparable castles only because of its setting by the sea. The curtain wall once enclosed the entire site. The castle offers spectaculars views of Bass Rock, a small island just off North Berwick. Bass Rock resembles a white iceberg floating in the Firth of Forth.
