03/25/26 - Max Effort Upper @ Westside Barbell
Max effort work is about building absolute strength: teaching your body to strain and produce force at the highest level. When you train in that 90–100% range, you’re recruiting the motor units you don’t touch with lighter weight.
For lacrosse, that matters more than anything:
If you can produce more force, you’re going to win more 50/50 situations. Clamp, first step, contact, etc.
Dynamic work builds speed. Repetition work builds muscle. But max effort is what raises the ceiling.
If your ceiling is low, nothing else really matters.
