3 years of his life that changed his life forever. My dad never talked about Vietnam and it was well into my 40’s did I learn of his 2 Purple Hearts and Commedation for Heroism. When I asked him about them, his response was a dry and direct “What does it matter, it doesn’t bring my friends home.” He has spent the majority of his time since then as a fierce VA advocate.
