The gateway to Korea, Incheon Airport—ever wondered how it all started? ✈️
Believe it or not, there wasn’t even land here at first. Incheon Airport was built on reclaimed land, literally transforming vast mudflats into one of the world’s top airports 👀
Before ICN, Gimpo Airport was Korea’s main hub, but it eventually hit capacity. So in 1990, the government chose Yeongjongdo’s tidal flats as the site for a new international airport. After about 10 years of land reclamation and construction, Incheon Airport officially opened in 2001.
And it didn’t stop there. With continuous expansion, including Terminal 2 in 2018, it’s now considered one of the world’s top-tier airports, welcoming millions of travelers every year 🌍
From bold vision to global hub, Incheon Airport keeps evolving and it’s only getting better ✨
