New data suggests that the backlash against Chappell Roan could be fuelled by bot accounts.
The controversy started after Jorginho accused a security guard of berating his wife and young daughter during an encounter at a hotel in Brazil.
Roan denied the claims, saying the guard wasn’t part of her team and that she wasn’t aware of the incident.
But now, an analysis by AI platform Gudea has found the backlash may have been amplified by bots.
Out of more than 100,000 posts across social media, over 23% came from so-called “non-typical” accounts, including automated or highly coordinated users.
The report says the discourse quickly spiralled into personal attacks, misinformation, and even calls for boycotts.
Meanwhile, security guard Pascal Duvier has taken responsibility, saying he was not working for Roan and acted independently.
