A new billboard campaign championing transgender people is appearing across highways in Kansas. Declaring “God Made Trans People” in bold letters, these billboards were put up just weeks after the state moved to invalidate transgender residents’ identification documents. Launched in late March by Mayday Health, the four-week campaign spans major routes in Kansas City, Topeka, and Wichita, aiming to reach more than a million drivers as trans Kansans navigate daily life with IDs that no longer reflect who they are. On 26 February SB 244 went into effect, requiring all state-issued identification to list sex assigned at birth, reversing prior policies that allowed updates to gender markers.
