Out Congressman Robert Garcia has condemned immigration enforcement abuses after a 16-year-old US citizen testified that ICE agents choked him, beat him, and hurled slurs at him during an arrest, going so far as to call him “gay” for crying. The emotional testimony came during a surprise oversight hearing on Tuesday (24 March), tied to a report detailing harm to children under the Trump administration’s immigration policies. The teen, Arnoldo Bazan, recounted being attacked while trying to protect his father during a roadside stop in Texas. “One officer put me in a chokehold and told me, ‘You’re done,’” Bazan told lawmakers. “His grip was so tight, I wondered if I would even make it out alive,” he added.
