Around 1,000 people gathered at the Pappajohn Sculpture Park, huddled in their hats and coats to keep warm, before they marched nearly two miles to the Iowa State Capitol building, where they were met by sunshine, protest songs and thousands of other protesters with the same goal of joining "No Kings" protests across the nation. Those who gathered on Saturday, March 28, echoed the chants yelled over a megaphone, with "Not a penny, not a dollar, we won't pay for war and slaughter," "ICE out, shut it down; every city, every town," and "It is our duty, it is our right; Strike! Strike! Strike!" ringing through the air.
