I’m trying to show that whilst not always glamorous, free park ups can still have great amenities, nice views, and feel safe! It’s not always a lay-by or down a dirt track that only a 4x4 can reach
People often ask where I park up when travelling. If the country I am in is more motorhome friendly then I try and stay in a campsite only once every 10 days to do washing (and have a proper shower not hiding out the back of the van)
France is great because they often have designated spots for campers that are free, and the locals are happy for you to be there as long as you’re giving back to the community and buying some local food if you’re in a town or village. They more often than not also have water and waste disposals for a very small fee.
