Sooo apparently nails have been considered sacred across many traditions.
I’ve been reading about this and want to share what I found, though I’m not a licensed practitioner of any of these traditions myself:
• Ayurveda (Indian holistic health) says nails are a direct reflection of the quality of our bone tissue. Weak nails signify weak bones and vice versa. My nails are so weak after gel.
• Taoism: nails are channels for qi vital life force flowing outward from the body into the world. Long, natural healthy nails were associated with cultivated energy and spiritual refinement.
• Eastern mysticism and tantra: the fingertips and their extensions are associated with the five elements, each finger corresponding to earth, water, fire, air and ether. Nails are where that elemental energy meets the external world.
• There’s more but this post will be too long.
*If you’re a practitioner of any of these traditions and I’ve got something wrong. I’d love to hear from you, I’m learning too....
