If I could have invested my 86k student loan into the stock market in 2018 (let it sit in the S&P 500 and reinvested dividends) it would be worth $240,000 today. While I have more income than that combined, since 2018, I assure you it wasn’t because of my degree. An elementary education degree did not help me get a job in tech. My drive, personality and determination did. My network is not better from attending a private school. My opportunities were not better. (However Ivy League private might be a different story) Anyway. If you are a normal middle class person who will be responsible for paying back your college - Don’t sign up to be a slave to the system that doesn’t have the same ROI as it did for Boomers and Gen X.
