With the exception of the bipartisan BREAK UP BIG MEDICINE ACT sponsored by senatorhawley and senwarren (a bill which I support), I have not seen any legitimate attempts by our lawmakers on either side of the aisle to hold health insurance companies accountable for denying claims for medically necessary care (even if they are overturned later). Making decisions on whether people receive certain tests or treatments certainly seems like practicing medicine (without a license btw).
š If they want to practice medicine, let's go ahead and get them some malpractice insurance like all the practicing physicians like myself have and let attorneys evaluate their decisions to see if they violate the standard of care with some of these claim denials.
