JBL on the Six Feet Under podcast said Ron Simmons saved him from a group of men who pulled knives on him in a bar in Canada by running across the bar and cutting what JBL called the greatest promo he has ever heard in his life. ​ JBL said he got into a fight and men pulled knives and had him backed against a wall. "I thought, sh*t, I'm gonna die in Canada, of all places." ​ He saw Simmons on the other side of the bar. Simmons came running like "a freaking Avenger," grabbed a beer bottle off a table, and cut a promo. ​ "To this day, the greatest promo I've ever heard in my life. And he ends it with, 'I'm gonna hit the first white mother that moves.'" ​ JBL said his first reaction was to cheer. Then he realized the problem: "I'm the only white mother. And I thought, why would he hit me? I'm trying to debate this. And Ron looks around. He goes, 'Not you.' It was like an APA skit. 'Not you.'" ​ The men with the knives decided they were not worth the trouble: "These guys look at us like, '...
