Yesterday, a 3D oriole bird I animated “flew” through the entire stadium at Camden Yards and revealed the new 4K scoreboard on Opening Day. Five weeks from the first call to a stadium full of people watching. Daktronics LED boards, massive 26K canvases, Ross Tessera switchers, and a timeline that didn’t care if my renders were done. With the installation of the new LED boards, there were no existing templated to work from. Lots of time was spent reading spec sheets instead of designing, which felt like wasted time. BUT, it was the reason the whole thing actually worked flawlessly. Shout out to the orioles and the creative team for bringing me on for this one!
