Sean Mooney hosted the WWF Event Center segment on WWF Superstars of Wrestling and WWF Wrestling Challenge from 1988 to 1993. The segment was customized for each local television market, meaning the content changed depending on what city the show was airing in that week. Mooney would announce upcoming house show dates and venues while wrestlers cut short promos directly into the camera to sell the matches coming to that area. Before the internet, it was how millions of fans found out wrestling was coming to their town. Mooney came to the WWF with a background in broadcast journalism and Major League Baseball production work, which gave the segment a straight-faced credibility that stood out in the middle of an hour of squash matches and over-the-top promos.
