The Artemis II mission recently captured a rare crescent view of Earth shortly after launch. Taken by a camera on the Orion spacecraft’s solar array, the image shows Earth partially illuminated, like a thin glowing arc against darkness. This happens because sunlight only lights part of the planet from that angle. The photo was taken on the first day as the crew began leaving Earth’s orbit, marking the first such human view in over 50 years since Apollo missions.
