Western Michigan came in at 13-12 overall and 9-3 in the conference after sweeping the University of Massachusetts, while Central Michigan was 9-15 overall and 3-9 in Mid-American Conference play. But in this rivalry, records hardly mattered.
With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Miguel Correa Jr. reached on an infield single, setting the stage for Cole Prout, who delivered a walk-off line drive into left-center, scoring Correa Jr. from first.
“We don’t like those guys, and they don’t like us at all. That’s the nice way to put it,” Prout said. “It was really nice to get over that hump and beat them.”
