Today, we celebrate a remarkable milestone—the 388th birthday of the National Guard, the oldest military organization in the United States. On December 13, 1636, in the Massachusetts Bay Colony, citizen-Soldiers came together to form militia companies, laying the foundation for what we now proudly call the National Guard. These early militia members embodied a spirit of service and readiness that remains at the heart of our mission today. The National Guard is unique in its dual role, serving both state and federal missions, providing critical support during natural disasters, civil emergencies, and overseas conflicts. This is a moment to honor our heritage, reflect on our achievements, and recommit ourselves to the enduring mission of serving and protecting our communities, states, and nation. #AlwaysReadyAlwaysThere
