Combat and Tactical Medics have to be trained and ready to pick up a weapon at a moment’s notice to defend themselves from an enemy or criminal while caring for their casualties. TacMed Airmen from the Idaho Air National Guard’s 124th Fighter Wing teamed up with TacMed personnel and first responders from Ada County Paramedics, Meridian Fire Department, Payette County Paramedics and Canyon County Paramedics for an intense joint training exercise, Oct. 3-4, at the Idaho State Police training complex. The training focused on the Tactical Combat Casualty Care Tier 2 Combat Lifesaver course and consisted of scenarios that had active shooters with paintball weapons, forcing TacMed personnel to defend themselves while providing care and protection for their casualties.
