I’ve been keeping a secret … We built a pool! This whole pool area is my baby. I was designing and project managing it all last year, at the same time as the barn conversion. It’s not finished yet - I still have a lot of limestone cladding to do (you can see a bit of my beloved wall here), and some more planting etc, but it’s already beautiful and I’m really proud of it! Both the boyfriend and I need to swim for our health - he broke his neck skiing when he was 35 and so finds other aerobic exercise challenging. I have severe arthritis in my lower back and was told by a top sports doctor a couple of years ago that I can never run or do other forms of impact or weights exercise again - only swimming and Pilates! But I’m allergic to chlorine, so can’t really swim in public pools. So here we are! We have a non chlorine pool, that’s as close as you can get to freshwater - it feels amazing!
