Press brake tooling is produced through a multi-stage machining and metallurgical process engineered for high load, high cycle environments. It begins with tool steel selection—commonly high-carbon, high-chromium alloys chosen for their ability to achieve high hardness while maintaining wear resistance and dimensional stability.
Raw stock is cut and squared, then rough machined on CNC mills to establish reference datums and near-net geometry. At this stage, excess material is intentionally left to account for distortion during heat treatment. Semi-finishing passes refine key features such as tang geometry, working angles, and overall straightness.
Heat treatment is a critical transformation step. The tooling undergoes controlled austenitizing, followed by quenching and tempering to achieve a hardened martensitic structure.
