"Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do" (Luke 23:34). We have all made mistakes that hurt our relationship with God. But Jesus suffered in Gethsemane and on the cross so we could repent and be forgiven, restoring our harmonious relationship with God. Even in His agony on the cross, the Savior prayed that those who mocked and persecuted Him would be forgiven.
