SIKH HERITAGE MONTH. We celebrate the history, culture, and achievements of the Sikh community, honouring the pioneers who settled in British Columbia in the early 1900s. One of Abbotsford’s treasures is the Gur Sikh Temple, built in 1911 by determined Sikh settlers using lumber carried from the Trethewey sawmill at Mill Lake. Its unique design blends traditional Sikh architecture with western frontier influences, creating a space that has served both as a place of worship and a hub for community life. Today, it stands as the oldest surviving gurdwara in North America and the only one outside India and Pakistan designated a national historic site (2002). The temple welcomes visitors daily from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm. Take a moment this month to explore and appreciate this incredible part of Abbotsford’s heritage! . . . #exploreabbotsford #supernaturalbc #abbotsfordbc #sikhheritagemonth #thefraservalley
