MomsRising joined a coalition of advocates gathering in Dilley, Texas to demand an end to child and family detention. Thousands of immigrant families, including hundreds of children, are being detained in immigration detention facilities across America, including in Dilley, Texas. For children, detention can have lasting impacts: disrupting their development, causing trauma and anxiety, interrupting their education, and separating them from the stability and sense of safety every child needs to thrive. Many of these children and families have lived in our communities for years — attending school, building friendships, and putting down roots — before being detained, often during routine immigration check-ins or while their legal cases were still pending.
