At 84, Bob Dylan remains impossible to predict. The Nobel Prize-winning artist launched a Patreon this week, announcing a series called “Lectures From The Grave,” which includes historical fanfiction, imagined letters, and AI-narrated audio essays from historical figures. It can all be yours for $5 a month. The page currently has six posts: an embedded Mahalia Jackson performance, three audio monologues voiced by what appears to be AI taking on the perspectives of Aaron Burr, Frank James, and Wild Bill, a fictional letter from Mark Twain to Rudolph Valentino written under the pen name “Herbert Foster,” and a short story called “Bull Rider” credited to “Marty Lombard.” Dylan had been previewing some of the audio content on his Instagram for months before the Patreon launch.
