Most people probably didn’t notice this, but the structure behind fakemink’s Easter Pink cover isn’t random at all… 👀👇 That piece is actually pulled from Virgil Abloh’s “12-Inch Voices,” a sound installation he debuted in 2019 at Fondation Galeries Lafayette in Paris as part of the MANIFESTO exhibition. The installation featured a looping jazz set from Yussef Dayes, including Love Is the Message, which was performed live when it first premiered. What makes it even crazier is the design itself. Those sharp spikes and foam-like wedges are modeled after anechoic chambers, spaces built to completely absorb sound. They’re used in serious environments like aerospace testing and audio research, where even the smallest echo has to be eliminated. Virgil flipped that idea on its head.
