John Wayne received over 300,000 pieces of fan mail while he was in the hospital, but he never got the chance to open them. Today, John Wayne’s youngest daughter Marisa Wayne, and his granddaughters Anita LaCava Swift and Laura Munoz-Bottini, open some of these letters for the very first time inside the JOHN WAYNE: AN AMERICAN EXPERIENCE exhibit in the historic Fort Worth Stockyards, Texas.   The Wayne family women take turns reading the heartfelt letters and discussing the impact John Wayne had on his fans and on their own lives. They reflect on Duke’s lasting legacy, the set of values on which he built his character, and the qualities that make him the genuine article.   “Every opportunity he had, he made somebody feel special.
